Legacy from the Motherland to today Professor Carr received his Ph.D. from Temple University. His academic specialties are in Africana Studies normative theory, Africana intellectual history, classical African history and African-American nationalism. His research interest includes pan-African historiography.

Ta-Nehisi Coates, author of the New York Times bestseller Between the World and Me (Random House, 2015) and National Book Award nonfiction nominee, will be on campus Wednesday, October 7, for a full day of interaction with Howard students and members of the Howard community.


Howard University COAS Freshman Seminar African Burial Grounds The African Burial Ground (ABG) in New York City, the nation's largest national monument dedicated to African people, has been called "the single-most important, historic urban archaeological project undertaken in the United States." Over 20,000 Africans were buried across the five-acre burial ground during the 17th and 18th centuries.
